2020 Rd 09 Rabbitohs vs Tigers
The stand out player in this for us, was far from one of the highest scorers. Campbell Graham playing at Centre. He's only owned by 3.1% and well in the running to be in the top 2 Centres for the season. His Centre scores this season have been 53, 52, 23, 71T, 28, 47 and 37 in this game. That's a 38.9 Average with just one Try. He copped an unfortunate boot to the face in the opening minutes which forced him from the field for a HIA, but returned to score 37 from 69 game minutes without a Try or Try Assist. He's the exact opposite of Latrell Mitchell - a willing and hard worker, always looking to roll his sleeves up. He's made 20+ tackles in all of those games bar one, averaged 4 TB's a game as well as 130+ Meters. He's bound to have a few bigger games with Tries between now and the end of the season to lift his average. In our eyes, he is a great set and forget player in a difficult position and still at a reasonable price of around $539K (42 Pts).
Damien Cook accelerated his scoring in the 2nd half to produce a solid 66. Solid, but a bit vanilla for his price. His owners are really wanting some more big games. He has only scored 1 Try so far and amazingly has 0 Line Breaks apart from that Try. His season attacking stats are very low with only 2 Try Assists and 24 Tackle Breaks. He has only had more than 2 Tackle Breaks in 3 out of 9 games this season. Apart from his first 2 rounds, he's averaged 71.3 Pts boosted by his 103 in Rd 6. But there is plenty of room for more bigger scores.
Dane Gagai bounced back with his first club level hat-trick and 72 Points. Souths heavily favored attacking on the right hand side. Inside him, James Roberts also bounced back with a Try, 6 Tackle Breaks and 57 Points. We had his BE at around 55 points so we only expect him to go up by $2K. Roberts is now priced at around 31 Points. He could average anything between 35-40 going forward but he hasn't performed above that since 2017. At his price, he's going to offer some value if you want to gamble committing to him.
Adam Reynolds boosted his average with a 72 point game. Only 2 Pts in Goal Kicking which came from a Penalty. He missed 4/4 conversions. Reynold's had a 572m night in general play kicking.
Cameron Murray stalled with 45 Points. Strangely, he was the one to shift to Centre covering Graham in the Head Bin. Bayley Sironen benefited from some extra minutes arising from Graham's HIA. He ended up with 37 minutes for 32 points. The difficulty in trying to make money from a player like this is, you are relying on some sustained luck for minutes. It only takes a couple of games of 20 or less minutes to dry up a players BE and then even have them going backwards.
Harry grant gave us a scare by finally seeing the pine. Fortunately it was a short spell and he still played 67 minutes. Incredibly, he turned that into 69 points without a Try. Matt Eisenhuth backed up his 74 minutes, a Try and 77 Points last week with a 70 minute game for 65 Points. It will be interesting to see what happens with Eisenhuth and Twal in the coming weeks.
Luciano Leilua got close to his 57ish BE with 50 Pts without a Try. He's still owned by over 8%, we think he's a little short of a keeper and is upgrade ready. But he had a good week. David Nofoaluma's breakout season continues with 47 Pts which only included a Try Save, 1 offload and Tackle Breaks in what we deem attacking stats.
It seems to be a great week for late call up wingers with Reece Hoffman picking up a Try and 37 Pts on debut. He likely has 2-3 games in him for Talau who has a hamstring issue.
We're really waiting to see how this forward pack shakes out when Twal returns, which could be next week or may be 2-3 weeks away.
